AMAGGI upgrades 6 TB with SAP S/4HANA and MIGNOW AI
With support from AWS and MIGNOW AI, AMAGGI reduced risks, accelerated SAP migration, and strengthened its agribusiness operations.

AMAGGI is one of the largest agribusiness companies in Latin America.
A genuinely Brazilian company, it generates between $7.9 billion and $8 billion in annual revenue and has approximately 10,000 employees in Brazil. Its operations span the entire production chain, featuring highly complex logistics, diverse business lines, 25 companies, and 2,500 users in the SAP environment.
The challenge
In 2022, the company was still operating on SAP ECC, and the system had begun to be seen as a barrier to growth. With approximately 6 TB of data and a technologically stagnant environment, AMAGGI needed a modern, secure, and scalable platform capable of supporting business expansion and the challenges of tax reform, which will have a significant impact on the agribusiness sector.
"We were motivated by the company's need for growth. We needed a modern tool that would support business expansion and meet the new challenges of tax reform," said AMAGGI's CIO during the SAP Business Campus, an event hosted by SAP in partnership with MIGNOW.
Greenfield or brownfield
The first alternative evaluated was a greenfield project, meaning a reimplementation of the system from scratch. The obstacle was the scale: an initiative of that size would take between a year and a half and two years, posing a high risk to operations.
It was at that moment that SAP introduced MIGNOW to AMAGGI.
Until then, the company was unaware of the possibility of updating its existing environment through a brownfield conversion, which preserves processes and history while moving the company to a new version with access to new technologies. According to the project team, the model required only about 25% of the time and 30% of the cost of a greenfield project.
The solution
The project was led by MIGNOW in partnership with AWS, using the brownfield model with RISE with SAP. The journey began with data cleansing to reduce the size of the database. Next, MIGNOW, an artificial intelligence-based software, automated 99% of the custom code conversion. More than 26,000 objects were corrected automatically, leaving only 267 for manual adjustment.
The modules involved included FI, AA, CO, CM, LES-TRA, SD, MM, PP, PM, QM, HR, and REBATE (MM/SD), all of which are essential to the company's agricultural, industrial, and logistics operations.
Cloud, security, and stability
The decision to adopt RISE with SAP in a cloud environment was about more than just technology. It reflected genuine concerns regarding security, stability, and business continuity.
"RISE is a much more secure environment. People don't talk about it much, but that was one of the main drivers for choosing a cloud-based project, in addition to it being a much more stable product than ECC," says the AMAGGI CIO.
The choice of hyperscaler was also decisive. AWS, a pioneer in offering cloud solutions for SAP systems and currently expanding in Latin America, provided the project's infrastructure.
In the view of AMAGGI's CIO, the combination delivered both commercial and technical gains.
"With MIGNOW's automated and innovative SAP conversion, combined with AWS's advanced infrastructure, we were able to accelerate our digital transformation, reduce costs, and increase agility across our operations."
A go-live with no room for error
Downtime was one of the most critical concerns. AMAGGI could not afford to stop: there were ships at the port and customers waiting for agricultural supplies. To mitigate risks, the project relied on detailed planning and 3,500 test scenarios, ensuring that all processes, including custom ones, were validated before going into production.
The result was a go-live with virtually zero impact. Invoices were issued as usual, and trucks waiting for clearance continued their journeys. "We met the deadline and delivered with the necessary quality," the AMAGGI team summarizes.
Results
In addition to completing the migration in 6.4 months, AMAGGI recorded significant performance gains: processes that used to take two hours are now executed in an average of 20 seconds. Today, the company has a scalable environment that is prepared for tax reform.
